How the marketplace works

The short version: sellers list by marking trading cards tradable, buyers pay through Stripe, the seller accepts and ships, and the money is released when the cards arrive. Everything below is the long version.

Buying

  1. Browse and add to cart. Anyone can browse. Your cart groups items by seller, and each seller checks out separately.
  2. Check out. Stripe collects your payment details and shipping address. Your credit card is authorized, not charged: the hold becomes a real charge only when the seller accepts.
  3. The seller accepts. Accepting and shipping share one window from your order. If they decline, or the order expires unaccepted, your credit card is never charged.
  4. The seller ships inside that same window; accepting late does not extend it. The order appears in your Orders tab, and a tracked package shows its tracking there.
  5. Mark it received. When the trading cards arrive, confirm receipt and tell the app where you are storing them: they are added to your collection at that location. If you forget, the order auto-completes.
  6. Rate the seller. Ratings are blind: yours is hidden until the other side rates you.

Selling

  1. Opt in once. You connect a Stripe account for payouts (a short identity and bank setup), set a return address, accept the seller terms, and set your price dial: one percentage of live market value that prices everything you list.
  2. Your tradable cards are your listings. There are no per-card listings: mark trading cards tradable in the app and they are for sale automatically.
  3. Accept the sale. Accepting captures the buyer's payment, so check the exact versions and condition before completing the sale; decline if you do not wish to ship. Accepting and shipping share one window, so accepting late only shrinks your packing time.
  4. Pack and ship by the same deadline. The order lists every trading card with its storage location, so pulling them is easy. Tracked orders get a prepaid label purchased automatically; untracked orders you stamp and mail yourself.
  5. Get paid. Your payout transfers when the buyer confirms receipt, or when the order auto-completes. The Orders tab shows the order through to completion.
There is no card grading here. Near mint, lightly played, and moderately played all sell at the same price; damaged cards, anything you could not play in a tournament, cannot be sold.

Common questions

When is my credit card actually charged? When the seller accepts. Until then Stripe only holds the amount.

When does the seller get the money? After you confirm receipt, or at auto-complete. Not at acceptance, not at shipping.

What if my order never arrives? Report it from the order any time after shipping. The order freezes, the seller is notified, and a refund goes back to your credit card if it does not turn up.

Can an order be cancelled? A seller can cancel before shipping for a full refund. Deadlines enforce themselves: an order that expires unaccepted releases the hold, and an unshipped one past its deadline is cancelled and refunded automatically.

Why can't I buy or sell yet? The marketplace is in closed beta. Browsing is open to everyone; transactions need an invite while we test with real money at small scale.
